Balnagowan Bridge
The use of pre-cast concrete vousoirs for the replacement and extension of arch bridges has been used by Allen, Gordon & co on a number of bridges throughout the Highlands.
The latest of these at Balnagowan Bridge, near Kildary, widened and reinforced the existing arch bridge to improve traffic flow over the bridge and meet current legislation.
The technique was first proposed by AG in a design competition for the Scottish Office almost 15 years ago, being commended at the time for offering the best technical solution.
